Pain Reprocessing Therapy

Pain Reprocessing Therapy

  • Pain  Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a system of psychological techniques that  retrains the brain to interpret and respond to signals from the body  properly, subsequently breaking the cycle of chronic pain and other  physical symptoms rooted in nervous system dysregulation. This process  breaks the cycle of chronic symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and  digestive issues, among many others.

PRT consists of five main components:

1.   Psychoeducation about the brain and reversibility of pain and other chronic symptoms

2.   Gathering and reinforcing personalized evidence for this symptom reversibility

3.   Attending to and reappraising pain and/or other symptoms through a lens of safety

4.   Addressing other emotional threats

5.   Gravitating towards positive feelings and sensations
